“Take us to queens at once” – PRINCE AKEEM (1988)

BIO

Been on a bit of a New York vibe for inspiration over the last couple of years and this build will be the first of that collection. This bike was inspired by New York’s infamous borough Queens and the courtship ritual of Zamunda. As represented in the classic comedy Coming To America.

I stripped 54 Queens of its paint leaving some remnants of primer in the joins and random parts of the frame for a more grimy/grubby look. The forks were rusted (with a right side bare steel logo) and the aluminium frame was treated with a special solution that gave it that grubby patina.

A few new parts were added to 54 Queens: Gold chain, Gold seat post clamp, Gold handlebar end caps, Gold water bottle, Green brake calipers, Black flat pedals and bottle cage, Rusted bell, 60mm stem, Topeak iPhone ridecase and handlebar bag. Customised a few bits too: Black towel for covering the saddle, peddle straps, and bartape. Feathered zips for the handlebar bag and a custom ass saver and spoke disk too.
